“Riding for the Safety and Preservation of Life“
Serving North Georgia and Its Surrounding Counties
On a weekend morning, somewhere in the wooded mountains of North Georgia, you might find a small band of dedicated volunteers on horseback, some on foot, training for that unfortunate day when someone becomes lost. Most are certified in search and rescue, some are trained medical professionals, while others are certified in first aid. By combining these skills with the highly evolved senses (sight, smell, and hearing) of the horses, these volunteers and their trusted mounts have distinct advantages in searching for lost souls. They respond when the surrounding counties’ emergency services call them for assistance.
The North Georgia Mounted Search and Rescue unit is always looking for new volunteers. There are never too many trained people looking when someone is lost. While the volunteers take care of their own horses’ expenses, donations are needed for radios, GPS, computer and printer, etc. A GoFundMe account (www.gofundme.com/ngmsar) is provided for anyone wishing to support their efforts.
“Training for the safety and preservation of life.”
The primary mission of NGMSAR is to establish a well trained, dedicated volunteer unit that when called upon, will aid and assist the EMS of North Georgia in locating missing or lost persons, as well as horses and other disasters where we may be of assistance.
