Eddie Foust is a Senior Loss Control Consultant at Starr Technical Risks. He received a B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Western Carolina University. He has been a member of the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club for twenty-two years. He is NASAR SAR Tech-2 certified and currently serves as Team Leader for the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club’s Search and Rescue Team. Previously Mr. Foust coordinated the effort to develop the Georgia ridge walker and caretaker program. He has been a licensed active amateur radio operator for 38 years with focus on maintaining and improving vhf/uhf communications in North Georgia and Western North Carolina and in Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (ARES). In the 1980’s, Mr. Foust served as a firefighter/EMT and firefighter instructor in North Carolina. He also has served as a technical coordinator for the Lake Lanier Canoe/Kayak/Rowing venue since 1998 handling voice and data communications along with other technical systems for both local and international events.
