FOR GPS USERS:

Our training for February will be utilizing the tracking and “go to” features of your GPS.  Also we will be using the IC’s laptop to upload your tracks to the search database and download additional search areas for the strike teams.  During the classroom training we will practice this and then put this into use during the field training.

FOR COMPASS ONLY USERS:

Take your compass with you in the car.  It will be a little off since it is inside your car, but you can still do some exercises.  While you are navigating the streets of metro Atlanta, pay attention to where North is in relation to your direction of travel.  Pick up a road map.  As you travel around town, think about keeping your map oriented to North.  Your classroom exercise will be determining compass course between waypoints and the distance.  These will be put to use during the field exercise.

FOR IC/COMMAND

Coordinating the individual GPSs with the unit’s laptop using Terrain Navigator Pro software will be the primary goal of our February training.  We will need to have more than one person capable of using this, so this training will involve multiple operators.  If anyone else is interested, they can find info and tutorials here.         https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCaAB2Zd7Pn9FSp244I3w-w/playlists
